staff report
YOUNGSTOWN — A fourth suspect has been indicted in the Nov. 18 shooting death of James E. Dow in a North Side house.
D’Metri Lee, 20, of Idlewood Avenue, was indicted by the Mahoning County grand jury Thursday on charges of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping pertaining to Dow and felonious assault on Dow’s friend, Emmanuel C. Bunkley, 26, of Youngstown, who survived being shot in the hip. Firearm specifications apply to all counts.
The aggravated murder charge pertaining to Dow, 28, of South Lakeview Avenue, carries a possible life prison sentence. The robbery and kidnapping charges carry three to 10 years each in prison, and the felonious assault charge carries two to eight years in prison.
Dow was found dead in the basement of 145 Thornton Ave., his feet bound with tape. Prosecutors say Lee was the one who fatally shot Dow in the head.
Co-defendants Michael W. Lee, 20, of Cordova Avenue (no relation), and Edward Taylor II, 19, of Hudson Avenue, who pleaded guilty to their roles in the crimes, were sentenced last month to 30 and 22 years in prison, respectively, for voluntary manslaughter with a gun specification, robbery, kidnapping and felonious assault.
Another defendant, Aaron Sherrod, 21, of Stockbridge, Ga., is still at large.
