Liberty 81, Dream 77

ATLANTA — Janel McCarville scored 25 points and had seven assists to help New York keep Atlanta, an expansion team, winless. The Dream failed to hold a 12-point lead with 7:09 remaining. New York (4-4) ended a two-game losing streak on the road. Including two playoff losses at Detroit last year, the Liberty had dropped nine of 10 away from Madison Square Garden. Betty Lennox scored 28 points to lead Atlanta, which dropped to 0-5 at home, 0-8 overall.

Monarchs 79, Mystics 76

WASHINGTON — Nicole Powell scored 28 points and Kara Lawson added 22 for Sacramento. Powell’s turnaround jumper from the right baseline with 1:18 remaining gave the Monarchs (4-4) the lead for good at 77-75. Laurie Koehn’s 3-point attempt from the left baseline in the waning seconds was short as the Mystics (2-7) dropped their fifth straight. Washington had rallied from a six-point deficit to take a 73-72 lead with 2:56 remaining. Taj McWilliams-Franklin shot 10-of-11 and led the Mystics with 23 points. Alana Beard had 17 points and seven assists.

Silver Stars 64, Fever 53

SAN ANTONIO — Sophia Young returned to the starting lineup and scored 17 points to lead San Antonio over Indiana. Young, who did not play in Sunday’s loss to Minnesota because of a strained groin, was 8-for-12 from the field. Ann Wauters scored 12 and Vickie Johnson had 10 for San Antonio (4-4), undefeated at home. Katie Douglas and Tan White both had 13 to lead the Fever (4-3).
