June 6

Theft: A Salem woman’s purse was stolen at a business in the 7300 block of Market Street.

Theft by deception: A Larkridge Drive man told police he gave another man $100 because the other man claimed his vehicle had broken down, but that the man stole the money.

Theft: A Struthers man reported the theft of his 18-speed bicycle while in the 900 block of Windham Court.

Theft: A worker for LaFrance Dry Cleaners, 230 Boardman-Poland Road, accused a former employee of printing a customer list and taking it without permission when she quit.

Theft: A man discovered a wishing well and a landscaping ornament missing from rental property he owns in the 5400 block of Southern Boulevard.

Theft: A man fled on foot after stealing a $300 global positioning system device from Circuit City, 7230 Market St.

Domestic violence: A 20-year-old Erskine Avenue man was picked up at his residence on a warrant. Earlier, the man’s mother alleged he demanded money and, when she refused, choked and pushed her.

Theft: The front license plate was removed from a vehicle in the 7400 block of Market Street.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Forest Park Drive woman said her former boyfriend took her 1995 Chevrolet Lumina without permission.

Theft/drugs: A Mineral Ridge man, 22, was charged with theft and drug abuse after being accused of taking $68.78 worth of clothing from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive. He also was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

June 7

Breaking and entering: Authorities booked a 24-year-old North Lima man at the Mahoning County Jail on six counts of breaking and entering. He is accused of committing break-ins at Saunders Music, 4400 Market St., Shear Elegance, 841 Boardman-Canfield Road, and several other township businesses.

Arrest: Officers took custody of a 22-year-old Niles man from Weathersfield Township police. He was wanted on warrants from Boardman charging him with five counts of criminal damaging and one count of theft.

Theft: While responding to a theft at Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd., officers arrested a 58-year-old Youngstown man wanted on a warrant from Chesapeake City, Va.

Auto theft: A woman reported her 1999 Oldsmobile Alero stolen while in the 4000 block of South Avenue.

Theft: Charges were filed against two Youngstown boys, 16 and 17, accused of stealing two Polo shirts worth a total of $102 from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.

Burglary: A boy, 17, and a 19-year-old man, both of Youngstown, were charged after witnesses told police the boy had broken a window and kicked in a door to a residence in the 100 block of Clifton Drive. The older teen also was wanted on a charge of probation violation.

Theft: Two Youngstown women, 18 and 19, were charged after more than $300 worth of women’s jewelry and accessories was stolen from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Three DVDs were stolen from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Bad checks: A worker with Mega Co. Inc., 7885 Southern Blvd., reported getting checks totaling about $289 from an online customer to pay for dinnerware, but that the checks came from an invalid account.

Burglary: Someone opened the garage door to a Melbourne Avenue home and removed a $200 women’s mountain bike.

Theft: A New Middletown man discovered a DVD player, 200 compact discs, medications and a pair of sunglasses missing from his vehicle while at a Boardman-Poland Road business.

Theft: An employee with an East Western Reserve Road restaurant discovered a $500 phone missing from an office.

June 8

Arrests: After getting a few complaints about fireworks being shot off around 4 a.m. near Applewood Boulevard, police charged a Boardman man, 31, and a 33-year-old McDonald man with possession of fireworks and disorderly conduct; one man also was charged with obstructing official business.

Domestic violence: A 23-year-old Annawan Lane woman was charged after her boyfriend alleged she pushed and slapped him.

Theft: A 26-year-old Struthers man was charged, accused in the theft of $108.28 worth of merchandise from Home Depot.

Criminal mischief: Eggs were tossed at a Tanglewood Drive home.

Assault: A Boardman woman had a bruise and a swollen nose after saying she had been struck roughly 10 times and grabbed by the hair during a graduation party at a Woodview Avenue residence.

Domestic violence: A 45-year-old man surrendered to police and was charged, as well as held on a warrant charging him with domestic violence (threats). Earlier, a woman alleged her husband became angry and shoved her on their driveway, struck her in the head and knocked over her and a motorcycle.

June 9

Menacing: A Boardman man, 22, was charged after an Alden Boulevard man reported receiving the latest in a series of harassing phone calls and text messages.

Theft: A Wal-Mart employee was accused of stealing money on two occasions after reportedly being caught on a surveillance camera.

Theft: A deposit with an undisclosed amount of money was missing from an office at Family Dollar, 4028 Market St.

Arrest: Police checked the welfare of a Beech Avenue woman after getting a report stating she may try to harm herself, and took her into custody upon realizing she was wanted on a warrant charging her with failure to appear in court.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a vacant home in the 700 block of Nellbert Drive and removed copper piping.
