MVSD grants pay raises

MINERAL RIDGE—The board of directors of the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District has renewed the contracts of Chief Engineer Thomas Holloway and Secretary-Treasurer Alan Tatalovich, and given both men 3 percent pay raises.

Holloway’s salary for the 2008-2009 fiscal year will be $94,685. Holloway has been MVSD chief engineer since April 2004. He is a former Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer.

Tatalovich, who has been secretary-treasurer since 1990, will earn $72,100. He has been an MVSD employee since 1987.

Holloway said the board plans to schedule a special meeting later this month to approve a new budget for the next fiscal year beginning July 1. Holloway indicated the current budget of $13 million is likely to increase due to the district’s escalating costs.

The MVSD operates Meander Reservoir and is the water service provider for Youngstown and Niles.
