MLB ROUNDUP \ Tuesday’s other games
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Orioles 10, Red Sox 6
BOSTON — Aubrey Huff matched his career high with four hits, including a tying two-run single, and Baltimore came from behind twice to hand Boston a rare home loss. Baltimore rebounded from deficits of 1-0 and 6-4 and overcame homers by Manny Ramirez and J.D. Drew as the Red Sox lost for only the second time in their last 17 games at Fenway Park. On a steamy night with a game-time temperature of 93 degrees, the Orioles scored in just three innings with four runs in the second, three in the seventh and three in the ninth. They’ve scored 29 runs in their last four games, three of them wins.
Tigers 6, White Sox 4
DETROIT — Miguel Cabrera’s go-ahead two-run single in the fifth inning helped Detroit snap Chicago’s seven-game winning streak. Nate Robertson (4-6) allowed three runs and eight hits in 61‚Ñ3 innings for the win. Todd Jones pitched a scoreless ninth for his 11th save in as many chances. Jim Thome homered for the White Sox, and Jose Contreras (6-4) took the loss.
Blue Jays 3, Mariners 1
TORONTO — Dustin McGowan pitched his third career complete game, and Vernon Wells and Brad Wilkerson each homered to lead Toronto to a speedy win over Seattle. McGowan (5-4) retired the final 10 batters as the Blue Jays needed just 2 hours, 2 minutes to hand the Mariners their seventh loss in nine games.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Marlins 5, Phillies 4
MIAMI — Hanley Ramirez led off the game with one of Florida’s three home runs off Philadelphia starter Brett Myers. Jorge Cantu hit a two-run homer in the first and Mike Jacobs added a two-run shot in the fifth for the Marlins, who closed within three games of the Phillies’ lead atop the division and handed Philadelphia just its fifth loss in 20 games. Ricky Nolasco (6-4) allowed three runs — all unearned — in six innings for Florida, and Kevin Gregg got the final four outs for his 12th save in 15 chances.
Cardinals 7, Reds 2
CINCINNATI — Ryan Ludwick homered and drove in four runs to lead St. Louis over Cincinnati. Albert Pujols and Rick Ankiel gave the Cardinals their first set of back-to-back home runs this season before Pujols was helped off the field in the top of the seventh inning. He strained a left calf while running out a ground ball. Pujols will be reevaluated today. Ludwick also doubled twice and singled in support of rookie right-hander Mitchell Boggs, who made his first major league start and second appearance. Reds right fielder Ken Griffey Jr. went 0-for-3 with a walk in his first home game since hitting his 600th career home run Monday in Florida. He stepped out of the dugout and waved his batting helmet to acknowledge a standing ovation after his milestone home run was replayed on the video screen and a “Griffey Jr. 600” home run sign was unveiled in right-center field.
Cubs 10 Braves 5
CHICAGO —Ted Lilly settled down after a shaky start to get his first win in three weeks and Derrek Lee and Geovany Soto homered as Chicago continued its dominant play at Wrigley Field. Braves’ starter Tom Glavine, who got his 300th win last Aug. 5 at Wrigley while pitching for the Mets, had to leave after three innings with a left elbow strain. Greg Norton’s three-run homer in the first off Lilly gave Glavine an early cushion but with his control off and his elbow apparently hurting, he let it slip away. The NL Central-leading Cubs rallied and are now 27-8 in their home ballpark this season. Lee had a solo shot in the third to tie the game and Soto a three-run drive in the eighth to put it away. Glavine (2-3) gave up four runs, six hits and four walks while throwing 72 pitches in his second shortest outing of the season.
Astros 6, Brewers 1
HOUSTON — Lance Berkman homered and hit a three-run triple, and Roy Oswalt pitched seven solid innings for his first win in almost a month to lead Houston over Milwaukee. Berkman’s 19th homer of the season landed in the left-field Crawford Boxes and scored Miguel Tejada to give Houston a 2-0 lead in the first. Berkman is second in the majors in home runs behind Philadelphia’s Chase Utley and is the leader in runs scored (61) and extra base hits (45). Oswalt (5-6) broke a three game losing streak with his first win since May 12. He allowed five hits and one run with a season-high 10 strikeouts.
