YOUNGSTOWN — Susan Fithian of Boardman, who was crowned Mother of the Year when the Mothers of Twins Club met for a banquet May 16 at Davidson’s Restaurant, will represent the club June 27 and 28 at the Ohio Federation of Mothers of Twins Club. She and her husband, Jim, are the parents of twin boys, Josh and Jason, 18, and John, 15.
A member of the club for 18 years, she has served as president, vice president, and recording secretary, and chaired several committees. She has also served as president, vice president and corresponding secretary, and as second vice president of Boardman Council PTA.
Fithian has worked on fundraisers for the Spartan Dug-Out Club and the Sixth Man Club, and has volunteered in lunchrooms and classrooms at Robinwood School. She enjoys travel, playing cards and reading.
Correction is noted for Morell anniversary
HUBBARD — Patricia and Carl Morell, 1175 Tulip Drive, celebrated their 50th anniversary by renewing their vows on May 31 at St. Patrick Church. Their last name and the first name of a daughter-in-law, Cyndi Morell, were misspelled, and the name of one son, Joseph Morell of Youngstown, was inadvertently omitted in an announcement published Sunday.
CCC presents annual Juneteenth celebration
WARREN — The Community Concerned Citizens will present an awareness program , “Power to End Stroke and Heart Disease,” on Juneteenth Celebration Day, with activities taking place Saturday at Quimby Park on Austin Avenue N.W.
Among the health and exercise directors from the community who will speak, provide demonstrations and participate in the Heart Healthy Jog and Walk program that begins at 8:30 a.m. will be Judith Wilkins and Clifford Johnson, grand marshals; James H. Davis, YMCA Nautilus instructor; United Methodist Community Center’s Heart Healthy Line Dance and Yoga Instructors; Mel Milliron, Trumbull County Health Department; and Debbie Anderson, Warren West Community Health Center. Mayor Michael O’Brien will take part in the ribbon cutting. Mary Warren will speak on the benefits of fruit, and each participant will receive a bag of fruit from the Greater Warren Credit Union.
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration of the ending of slavery. The day commemorates black freedom and emphasizes education and achievement.
