X YOUNGSTOWN — The marriage of Carson E. Flakes and Andrea D. Bivens was solemnized by Pastor Larry Alexander, the groom’s uncle, and the Rev. Gwendolyn Alexander, his aunt, at 2:30 p.m. May 24 at Phillips Memorial Missionary Baptist Church.

The bride is a daughter of Mark C. Scott of Youngstown and Karen L. Bivens of Alderson W.Va., and the groom is a son of Ernestine Alexander of Youngstown.

The bride’s ivory off-the-shoulder style gown was enhanced with beading.

Lilac gowns were worn by the honor attendants, Nicky Millhouse-Miller and Michelle Smith.

The duties of best man were performed by Kevin Siggers and the groom's son, Carson E. Flakes Jr. Ushers were Dominique Bell, the bride's daughter; Javonna Flakes, the groom's daughter; and Dai’ Quan Green. Ring bearer was Javawn Flakes, a son of the groom; flower girl was Alexandrea Phillips; and Bible carrier was La’Nasia Dothard. Also participating were Nena Bivens, the bride's daughter, and Marquia Curry.
