Krolls observe 65th anniversary at family event


X CANFIELD — The 65th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kroll, 82 Alabaster Ave., formerly of South Wendover Avenue in Youngstown, was celebrated during a family gathering on May 25 at the Holiday Inn in Boardman.

Hosts for the event were their children, Eileen and Richard Haught of Canfield, with whom they reside; Marjorie and Bob Donahue, Central Valley, N.Y.; Roy W. and Barb Kroll, Port Clinton; and William and Kim Kroll, North Olmsted. Nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren complete their family.

The former Mary Louise Pieper and Mr. Kroll were married April 17, 1943, at Immaculate Conception Church in Youngstown. They are members of St. Christine Church.

Mrs. Kroll was a secretary with Donnell’s in Youngstown in the 1940s and is a member of Youngstown State University Alumni and Junior Seton Circle.

Mr. Kroll served with the Army Air Forces during World War II and retired in 1980 after 38 years with Youngstown City Schools, where he was a teacher and basketball coach. He is a member of YSU Alumni, the Penguin Club, YSU Hall of Fame, Curbstone Coaches Hall of Fame and St. Christine Golf League.
