Pavlik roundup | News and notes
Taylor’s future: Jermain Taylor has not been in the ring since losing consecutive fights to Kelly Pavlik, but may be headed toward a super middleweight fight with Felix Trinidad Jr. in October. He has spent the last few months “chilling with my family and friends,” according to a post on his Web site. “The rematch with Kelly was soon after the first fight and I am taking some time off. Kelly will represent well in the middleweight division. I am excited about moving up to the super middleweight division and looking to start my campaign there this fall.”
TV time: In case you missed it, SportsTime Ohio will air “Kelly Pavlik: Ringside with the Champ” three more times leading up to Saturday’s bout. The documentary will air at approximately 11:30 tonight (after the Indians-Rangers game) and twice Saturday night. STO will show all three of its Pavlik documentaries consecutively Saturday night. For more details, visit sportstimeohio.com.
T-shirts: If you’re headed to the fight and want to pick up a T-shirt beforehand, you can buy one at the following places: the BW-3 restaurants in Boardman and Austintown, O’Donald’s in Austintown, Clemens Wine Cellar, Knoll Run Golf Course, Bedford Trails Golf Course, Jimmy’s Italian Food Specialties on Belmont Avenue and East Side Civics. You can also buy shirts and other memorabilia (hats, photos, etc.) at Pavlik’s official site, teampavlik.com. That site will soon be updated and expanded. Also, Southside Boxing Club memorabilia is available at southsideboxingclub.net.
Weigh-in: Friday’s weigh-in is at 5 p.m. in the Circus Maximus Theater inside Caesar’s. Fans are encouraged to attend. Doors open at 4:30.
Finally: Rapper Jon “Lyrical Lizard” Guthrie has a Pavlik video on his MySpace site, myspace.com/lizardofoz. The video, which is set to a song Guthrie wrote and performed, was edited by Youngstown native John Carraher.
