new contract YSU ACE employees


Youngstown State University has approved a new three-year contract with its Association of Classified Employees union representing secretaries, administrative assistants, maintenance workers, groundskeepers, librarians and others. The settlement follows a new three-year faculty contract in April. Some pact highlights:

ACE CONTRACT

Current average ACE salary: $39,791.

Cost of contract: $4.5 million in additional spending over three years.

Annual cost-of-living increases: 2.5, 2.5 and 2.6 percents.

Employees affected: 380.

Health care: Employees will continue to contribute 1.5 percent of their base salary for family health insurance or 0.75 percent for individual coverage.

Spouse contribution: Elimination of a requirement that employees pay $100 per month to have their spouses covered by university insurance, if that spouse is employed elsewhere and has insurance coverage available at their job but doesn’t take it.

FACULTY CONTRACT

Current average salaries: $80,700 for professors; $62,300 for associate professors; $51,800 for assistant professors; and $41,900 for instructors.

Cost of contract: $4.5 million in additional spending over three years.

Annual wage increases: 2.5, 3.5 and 3.5 percents on base salary.

Employees affected: 380.

Equity adjustment: Faculty will see a salary adjustment in the first year with professors getting $1,800, associate professors getting $1,600, assistant professors getting $900 and instructors getting $600.

Longevity: Faculty hired before June 1, 2005, will get a one-time increase of $50 for each full academic year of paid service. Full professors with eight or more years at that rank will get an additional $50 per year.

Health care: Same contribution as ACE employees.

Spouse contributions: Also eliminated.
