Austintown residents robbed at gunpoint
staff report
AUSTINTOWN — Three township residents were robbed at gunpoint after five people entered their home and demanded money.
The victims told police they were awakened just before 1 a.m. Saturday by the five, who threw water on them and ordered them into the living room. A handgun was pointed in their faces.
The suspects left with $300 in currency, $200 in personal checks, a cellular phone, a wallet containing a debit card and three packs of cigarettes.
All three victims said they were instructed not to move from the living room until they heard the door slam, at which time they ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911.
There were no signs of forced entry, and the victims said it’s possible that the front door was accidentally left unlocked. No arrests have been made.
