Beaver trustees to vote on Green dispatching

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR

NORTH LIMA — Beaver Township trustees have scheduled a special meeting for 7:30 a.m. Thursday to consider and likely vote on a contract that calls for the township to provide dispatching services for the Green Township Fire Department.

If Beaver adopts the agreement, Green Township would pay Beaver for the dispatching services on a quarterly basis, effective Aug. 1 this year through Dec. 31, 2010.

Green would pay Beaver $10,000 on Aug. 1 through Dec. 31 of this year; $10,350 a quarter in 2009; and $10,715 each quarter in 2010.

Green Township trustees approved the contract earlier this month.

Green officials said there will be no change in service to township residents resulting from the agreement and all of the emergency numbers will remain the same.

Green Township will have to pay to have radio equipment installed in Beaver Township. The same repeater system and tower will remain in use in Green Township.

Officials in both townships said the move is necessary because of a recent announcement by MedCorp., the Toledo-based company that now provides dispatching services to Green and several other area communities, that it plans to stop providing dispatching services locally Thursday.
