IN THE HOLE! Area aces


Armand Venetti of Poland aced the 124-yard, No. 5 hole with a 9 iron at Mill Creek Golf Course. Ray Hull witnessed the shot.

Jack Stein of Liberty aced the 199-yard No. 9 hole at Youngstown Country Club. He used an 8 iron. Witnesses were Howard O’Malley and Dr. Connor White.

John Vranches of Youngstown aced the 187-yard, No. 5 holes with a 5 wood at Knoll Run Golf Course. Witnesses were Jim Nichols, Tiger Oravitz and Ed Brosman.

Mickey Murphy, 66, made a hole-in-one on the 145-yard, No. 16 hole witha 7 iron at Pine Lanes Golf Club. The shot was witnessed by Muggsy McGuinness, Jim Maughan and Dave Limpach.

Kenny Linden of Canfield, a Youngstown police officer, won the hole-in-one prize of a 2008 GM Pontiac at OCCHA’s (Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana, Inc.) 23rd Annual Chi-Chi Rodriquez Invitational Golf Outing at Bedford Trails Golf Course. It was the first time that anyone had won the hole-in-one prize. He aced the 165-yard, No. 12 hole with a 8 iron. Witnesses were Scott Kirshbaum, Tim Gentile and Ross Smith.

Waldene Kane of Boardman aced the 120-yard, No. 2 hole with a 5 wood at Valley Golf Course. Jayce Landle of Struthers, Sandra James of Warren and Lois Romito of Berlin Center witnessed the shot.

Mark Butch of Youngstown at Kennsington Golf Club. Butch aced the 148-yard, No. 11 hole with a 7-iron. Witnesses were Sonny DeCarlo, Vince Morgione and Chuck Sammarone.

Steve Milano at Avalon Lakes. Milano aced the 135-yard, No. 16 hole.
