Crawfords mark 60th with family at Das Dutch Haus


X LISBON — Mr. and Mrs. Norman E. Crawford, 42690 Middle Beaver Road, celebrated 60 years of marriage at a family dinner party June 7 at Das Dutch Haus restaurant in Columbiana.

Mr. Crawford and the former Dorothy Foy were married June 21, 1948, at Greenford Lutheran Church.

The Crawfords’ family includes their children, Barbara J. Stover of Lisbon, Mrs. Sam (Pamela) Gorby of Negley, and Raymond and Deborah Crawford of Oxford, Ala.; six grandchildren, Tracey and Scott Brandewie of Hilliard, Allison and Roger Shroades of Calcutta, Shawn and Holly Crawford of Jacksonville, Ala., Jamison Crawford of Stockbridge, Ga., Krista Diddle of Gahanna, and Marcus and Janet Diddle of Columbus; and three step-grandchildren, David and Amy Crouse of East Liverpool, Eric Gorby of Virginia and Michael Stover of Wellsville.

Seven great-grandchildren round out the family. They are Michelle, Kathryn and Zachary Brandewie; Arielle Shroades; Makenah and Jonathon Crawford, and Kaitlyn Gorby.

Mr. Crawford retired from Food Haul Trucking Co. in 1981. For 15 years he was a truck driver and worked as an independent driver for many years. He retired from Crawford’s Repair Shop in 2006 after 25 years in business. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 during World War II as a T-5 truck driver in the 252nd Engineer Combat Battalion.

Mrs. Crawford retired in 1993 from Beaver Local Schools after 28 years as a cook.

The Crawfords are members of the Elkton United Methodist Church.
