BOSTON — Joba Chamberlain dominated Boston in his best major league start, allowing three singles and striking out nine in a career-high seven innings. Mariano Rivera shut down a threat in the eighth and went on to remain perfect in 26 save opportunities as the Yankees improved to 7-0 since the All-Star game. Josh Beckett (9-7) gave up one run and nine hits in seven innings.
White Sox 6, Tigers 5
DETROIT — Jermaine Dye hit a two-out, two-run homer in the ninth inning for Chicago, which rallied to win in the ninth for the first time in 39 games this season after Carlos Guillen had put Detroit ahead with a tie-breaking homer in the seventh. D.J. Carrasco (1-0) picked up the win by getting two outs in the eighth and Bobby Jenks pitched the ninth for his 20th save.
Angels 6, Orioles 5
BALTIMORE — Juan Rivera and Casey Kotchman homered to help Los Angeles’ Joe Saunders earn his 13th victory. Back after missing two games on bereavement leave, Torii Hunter had two RBIs for the Angels, who led 5-0 after two innings and held on for their eighth win in nine games. Los Angeles closer Francisco Rodriguez gave up Kevin Millar’s second homer of the game and a double to Brandon Fahey in the ninth, but retired Luke Scott on a grounder for his 43rd save, most in the majors.

Mets 7, Cardinals 2
NEW YORK — Mike Pelfrey won his seventh consecutive decision and Carlos Delgado homered to lead New York over slumping St. Louis. Jose Reyes added a two-run triple and Endy Chavez had four hits for the Mets, who have won 14 of 17. The Mets roughed up rookie Mitchell Boggs (3-2) for the second time in 22 days, handing the Cardinals their fifth straight loss.
Marlins 3, Cubs 2
CHICAGO — Jeremy Hermida hit a pinch-hit home run leading off the ninth inning for Florida. Justin Miller (3-2) earned the win by getting the final two outs in the eighth, and Kevin Gregg earned his 21st save with a perfect ninth. Bobby Howry (3-4) started the ninth and took the loss.
Braves 8, Phillies 2
PHILADELPHIA — Jair Jurrjens pitched eight scoreless innings and Brian McCann hit two homers, including a grand slam, for Atlanta. Jurrjens (10-5) allowed three hits, struck out six and walked one. The 22-year-old right-hander leads all rookies in wins, and he lowered his ERA to 3.02. McCann led off the fourth against Kyle Kendrick (8-5) with a drive to center for a 1-0 lead. He connected for his 20th homer off Brad Lidge during a seven-run ninth.
Rockies 7, Reds 2
CINCINNATI — Brad Hawpe hit a two-run homer and Aaron Cook went eight solid innings as Colorado won for the seventh time in eight games. Jeff Baker added a solo homer, Willy Taveras had three hits and three stolen bases and every Colorado starter had at least one hit as the Rockies snapped a four-game road losing streak. Cook (13-6) allowed five hits and one run with four strikeouts for his third win in his last four decisions over five starts. Cincinnati’s Edinson Volquez (12-4) labored through four innings, allowing seven hits and five runs.
