Canfield defeats Mount Vernon, 9-5, gains state final

SOUTH POINT — Colton Crissman got the mound win and hit a solo home run and single, as the Canfield 12-year-old Little League all stars defeated Mount Vernon 9-5 Friday in a state tournament game to advance to the final.

Crissman pitched 52‚Ñ3 innings giving up five hits with five strikeouts.
Michael Kindinis closed the game by retiring the last batter on a fly ball to Alec Buchenic.
KIndinis also socked a three-run homer.
Drew Beck, Edmond Pilolli and Zach Kuchmaner each had two hits for Canfield, while Joe Kleeh had a double, scoring Nick Luchansky.
Mount Vernon rallied in the top of the sixth as it scored five runs on three hits.
Colt Region
STRUTHERS — Hagerstown, Maryland scored seven times in both the third and fourth innings to defeat Youngstown Express 16-5 in the opening round of the Colt Region Tournament Friday at Cene Park.
Dwight Boward had three hits, while Nick Stubbs had a pair and drove home three runs for Hagerstown. Christian Binford tossed three scoreless innings for the win striking out six. Ryan Sword, Joey Miller, and Thomas Allen added two hits each for the winners.
Dante Lewis had three hits for the Express, while Tim Calhoun added a three run batted in double.
Rondinelli Tuxedo 5, East Ohio 4
STRUTHERS — Phil Lipari’s sacrifice fly scored Colin Hart with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning for Rondinelli in their opening game. Out hit 12-6, Rondinelli got a good relief performance from Sam Schweiss as he went 41‚Ñ3 innings allowing only one run with five strikeouts. Jake Double had two hits for the winners while Josh Negel and Clay Francis had three hits, and Logan Ballint and Levi Crozier had two hits each for East Ohio.
Dehaven 10, Wharmby Sports 1
STRUTHERS — Dehaven scored seven times in the seventh to break open a close contest. Haidn Lynch had three hits and also pitched the first three innings allowing no hits for the win. John Orr, Ed Jacquel, and Tyler Bills added two hits each for the winners. Mike Riffe allowed only three runs in six innings with five strikeouts for Wharmby for the defeat.
Dehaven 4, Rondinelli 3
STRUTHERS — Dehaven scored a pair of runs on two sacrifice flies in the top of the sixth inning and Brandon Bauer got the final two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning with the tying and winning runs on base. Matt Brown had a pair of doubles for Dehaven. Bo Slemons and Phil Lipari had two hits each for Rondinelli.
Youngstown Class AA playoffs
YOUNGSTOWN — Alex Oles pitched a one-hitter and struck out 13 as Youngstown Metros posted a 5-0 victory over Tri-County to take a 2-0 lead in the Youngstown Class AA League best-of-five series.
The Metros took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, then added four runs in the second.
Anthony Porter hit a double and a pair of singles to pace the Metros. Mike Hoelzel hit a double and single. Adam Boris singled for Tri-County in the sixth inning.
