Woman charged in rapes of 2 boys

staff report

WARREN — An 18-year-old woman is charged with rape and corruption of a minor, after police investigated complaints by the mothers of boys ages 11 and 14 that the woman had sex with their sons.

Shawna A. Conn, whose address is on Charles Avenue in Warren but who police say is originally from McDonald, pleaded innocent before Judge Terry Ivanchak in Warren Municipal Court. She remains in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Police were called to a home on Logan Street Southeast by the boys’ mothers, who had restrained Conn in the home after learning of the allegations, police said.

A report from Warren police said Conn “openly admitted to the crime.”

Conn was baby-sitting four other children at the house at the time the alleged offenses occurred Tuesday, police said. The two boys were not being baby-sat but were known to the residents of the home, said Warren Detective Wayne Mackey. He added that Conn has been living at various addresses in Warren recently after leaving her home in McDonald.

If convicted of the felony rape charge, Conn could face up to 10 years in prison.

She is due back in municipal court for her next hearing at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
