Riding with … Dave Blaney

Last race: The Hartford native started 30th (based on owners’ points because qualifying was rained out) and flirted with a top-20 finish for much of the Lifelock 400 at ChicagoLand Speedway before finishing in 23rd position in the race July 12.

Season update: Blaney picked up 94 driver points in Chicago and moved into a tie for 30th place in the season standings with Michael Waltrip. They are nine points behind No. 29 Robby Gordon.

Up next: NASCAR’s top series heads to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard Sunday. Qualifying starts Saturday morning, and, on raceday, television coverage on ESPN begins at 1 p.m. with the green flag scheduled to drop at 2 p.m.
