Warren ties for Nirvana, Foo Fighters bands

WARREN — City council has renamed a downtown alley for a Warren-born musician who became famous for playing drums for the Seattle grunge band Nirvana.

David Grohl, born Jan 14, 1969, moved from Warren to Springfield, Va., as a young boy. He was part of Nirvana from 1990 until the death of lead singer Kurt Cobain in 1994, and then founded the band Foo Fighters in 1995 and remains with the band today as lead singer and guitarist. The alley is just south of Market Street between Main Park avenues.
