Easter Seals auction scheduled for July 25

YOUNGSTOWN — “Auction at Margaritaville” is the theme for the third annual auction scheduled by Easter Seals for 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday at Antioch Hall in St. Maron Church on Meridian Road.

Among the items available will be Indians, Pirates, Browns, Scrappers and Youngstown State University sports items, a Nintendo Wii, a Wii Fit, GPS System, digital camera, jewelry, a flat-screen TV, furniture and an array of baskets.

Justine Thomas of WBBG 106.1 will be the master of ceremonies, and there will be hors d’oeuvres, a steak dinner, live, silent and Chinese auctions and a chance to win a palm tree of cash.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Easter Seals, 299 Edwards St., or by calling the Easter Seals Development Department at (330) 743-1168.

Proceeds will fund programs and services for children and adults with disabilities and special needs.

Golf tourney to benefit Diabetes Association

HUBBARD — Ankle Foot Care Centers announce plans for the 10th Annual American Diabetes Association Golf Benefit, a four-person scramble event set for Aug. 22 at Pine Lakes Golf Course, 6233 W. Liberty St.

The tournament raises money for diabetes research.

After sign-up at 10:30 a.m., golf will begin with a shotgun start at 11. The fee of $80 per golfer includes 18 holes, cart, lunch, beverages on the course, dinner at the pavilion and awards.

ABWA chapter honors Balint as Woman of Year

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngs-town Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association honored June Balint as Woman of the Year at its anniversary/associate night May 20.

Sponsored by Josephine Berard, who is now deceased, Balint joined the Youngstown Charter Chapter in 1972. Since then, she has been an active member and served on numerous committees. She was honored for her dedication and enthusiasm.

Balint is retired from McKelvey’s department store, where she worked for many years.

Canfield church to host outdoor movie night

CANFIELD — Canfield Christian Church, 123 S. Broad St., is hosting movie night from 9:30 to 11 p.m. Aug. 8.

The movie will be “No More Baths.” Take lawn chairs or blankets for this outdoor event. Popcorn and drinks will be provided.
