The Columbiana Youth Baseball League has been around since the early 1970s, a league source said. The CYB plays at the league’s new two-field complex on Metz Road in Columbiana.
The league offers a youth baseball program from children 5- to 18-years-old and is broken into six age divisions. They are: T-Ball (5- & 6-year-olds), Bantam League (7- & 8-year-olds), Minor League (9- & 10-year-olds), Major League (11- & 12-year-olds), Pony League (13- & 14-year-olds) and Colt League (15- thru 18-year-olds).
“It’s not just about baseball,” said coach Mike Hopfenziz. “We try to give these kids life lesson. Whatever you do in life, what you do on a baseball field carries over into life.”
