Penn-Ohio Tigers win; will oppose Panthers

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Penn-Ohio Tigers minor league football team defeated the Rochester Renegades, 14-6, Saturday night.

Gary Scott (Wilson) rushed for over 100 yards, including a 35-yard touchdown run. He also had an interception.

D’Andre Rodgers (Chaney) scored the winning touchdown and two-point conversion in the fourth quarter on a quarterback keeper.

Coach Rick Razzano said the Tigers controlled the line of scrimmage in the second half.

“Our adjustment at halftime was to get some of our better defensive players on the offensive side,” he said.

“We put Bill Adelman [Rootstown] at tackle, Jason Stere (Hubbard) at tight end and alternated between Mike Rosa (Chaney) and Rob Santee (Howland) as the blocking fullback and ran right at them.”

The Renegades’ only touchdown came on a 50-yard interception return.

The Tigers had six sacks and numerous quarterback pressures. Rosa and Joe Williams (Niles) had two sacks each, while Adelman and Rodgers had one apiece.

“Our defense has been strong all year and the longer they stay together the better we’re going to be,” said Razzano.

The Tigers play host to the Trumbull County Panthers Saturday at 7 p.m. at Canfield High School.

All area youth are invited to attend free.
