Officer Hartzell memorial outing is Sunday
YOUNGSTOWN – The sixth annual Michael T. Hartzell Memorial Golf Outing is slated for Sunday. The event is held in honor of Patrolman Michael Hartzell, a Youngstown police officer who was killed in 2003. This year’s outing will be at Knoll Run in Coitsville.
The outing is held to raise money for a scholarship in Michael’s honor. The scholarship is given to students to promote the law enforcement field.
“To have something in Mike’s name to help this kids get a career in law enforcement is just great,” said Mary Kay Hartzell, Michael’s mother.
The outing was originally going to begin at noon, but because of increased interest, a second tee time was needed.
The original noon start time is filled, but there are still openings for the 7 a.m. time slot. The cost is $75 per player. Players will be placed on a four-person team for the event.
Outback Steakhouse will be supplying lunch and dinner for the event. This will be the fifth year Outback has donated the meals.
