Many athletes will tell you that whatever edge you can get on your opponent is priceless to your game. Intimidation is one of those weapons that can gain an athlete an advantage, and with his heavy-duty headgear, Kyle Ferraro, 8, of Columbiana brings intimidation with him into the batter’s box.

“I really like it,” Ferraro says of the helmet, which was an Easter present.

The custom helmet features the word “Kyle” on the side surrounded by lightening bolts and stormy bluish-gray smoke. On the back, an angry baseball bites through a bat.

The helmet also has a face mask on it to protect Ferraro from wayward pitches and the occasional foul ball. The face mask is starting to be required, or at least strongly suggested, by more and more sports leagues for safety reasons.
