Drug indictment

YOUNGSTOWN — A federal grand jury in Cleveland has indicted Roger R. Shaffer of Struthers on charges of distributing marijuana and possession of cocaine, marijuana and heroin.

The FBI said a source used by the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force told investigators that Shaffer had been selling marijuana for $1,000 a pound and storing the drugs in a lock box he kept at 2430 N. Redgate Lane in Austintown.

Court records show Shaffer, 31, was arrested by Austintown police during a traffic stop April 2. During the stop, a police dog alerted on Shaffer’s vehicle. Police said they seized 45 pounds of marijuana, 41‚Ñ2 ounces of cocaine and 20 grams of heroin.

A search warrant was then used to enter the lock box at the Redgate Lane garage, and 2.2 pounds of cocaine and 27 pounds of marijuana were seized.
