Festival to offer magical feeling

There is something for everyone at the annual St. Rose Church event.

GIRARD — The annual St. Rose Church summer festival, “Come Feel the Magic,” will be on the church grounds, 48 E. Main St., from Thursday to Sunday.

Featured each night will be bingo, a Chinese basket auction, a big-ticket raffle with a first prize of $5,000, second prize of $1,000 and third prize of $500, and new rides by Sam’s Amusements of Ohio.

Tickets for the raffle are $1 each or six for $5 and can be obtained at the church rectory or the fairgrounds.

Homemade foods prepared by parish members will include cavatelli, sausage and peppers, fried dough, pizza, kielbasa bites, cabbage, noodles and Italian cheese puffs.

Entertainment will be offered nightly on the main stage, with the Girard Community Band featured from 6 to 9 p.m. on the grandstand Thursday, with an opening performance by the dance band, the concert band and the Dixie band. The beer tent entertainment from 8 to 11 p.m. will feature DJ Terry Williams.

A Friday lunch is planned from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and advance orders can be placed by calling (330) 545-4351 or by fax at (330) 545-0119 by Thursday at 4 p.m. for quick pickup. Menus can be picked up at the rectory or on the fairgrounds.

The entertainment band Friday will be the Great Pretenders from 8 to 11 p.m. on the grandstand and a live broadcast by Y-106.1 with Jeff Kelly and Carole King.

On Saturday, the Del Rezek Band will perform from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on the grandstand and Crossroads will perform on the grandstand from 8 to 11 p.m.

Events Sunday feature a polka Mass from 4 to 5 p.m., and music at the beer tent featuring Reggae Night with W. Krebs Steel Drums, food and bingo from 8 to 11 p.m. “Rudy and the Professionals” will perform from 4 to 11 p.m. Don Richards and Dave Neeley will provide music in the beer tent from 8 to 11 p.m., and the big-ticket raffle will be at 11 p.m.
