New Middletown plans ‘National Night Out’

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR

NEW MIDDLETOWN — “National Night Out” will be celebrated here Aug. 5 and will be co-sponsored by the village and Aqua Ohio.

Police Chief William Morvay said the event will start with a parade at 6:30 p.m. beginning at Springfield Local High School and proceeding north on Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road to St. Paul the Apostle Church. The celebration will then move to Welker Park behind the Village Administration Building on Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road.

Morvay said that events lined up so far include a disc jockey, the landing of a Life Flight helicopter, a canine demonstration, fingerprinting and bike safety in addition to the regular food and festivities.

The night will conclude with a 10 p.m. fireworks display at the high school. Morvay said donations are needed for the fireworks. They can be sent to the Village of New Middletown, P.O. Box. 463, New Middletown, Ohio 44442.

The event is part of the National Night Out Against Crime, which promotes crime prevention.
