Mr. and Mrs. Sheely renew nuptial vows on golden jubilee
X PETERSBURG — Mr. and Mrs. John E. Sheely, 12894 State Line Road, observed their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their nuptial vows during a ceremony that took place July 19 at St. James Meeting House in Boardman Township Park.
Afterward the couple were honored by friends and relatives at a reception in the Community Center in the park.
Hostess for the festivities was their daughter, Theresa Elias of Poland. Their other children are John E. Sheely Jr. of Struthers, Joseph E. Sheely of Salem, Bert A. Sheely of Laughlin, Nev., Kenneth W. Sheely of Petersburg, and Rose Marie Lyda, also of Petersburg. There are 27 grandchildren and one great-grandchild in the family.
The couple were united in marriage July 19, 1958, at St. James Episcopal Church in Boardman. The church was later renamed St. James Meeting House when it was moved to Boardman Park.
Mrs. Sheely is a homemaker. Her husband retired in 2004 from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and Sheely's Tire Service. They are members of Solid Rock Community Baptist Church in Salem.
