MERCER COUNTY Sentencings


Judges in Mercer County Common Pleas Court sentenced these people recently. According to court records:

Gary Dorsey, 54, of Plainfield, N.J., sentenced to 33 months to six years in prison for felony aggravated assault to be served consecutively to the term he is now serving. He injured two corrections officers and tried to strike another while they were trying to restrain him April 7, 2006, while he was an inmate at the State Regional Correctional Facility in Findley Township.

Jami Galbraith, 31, of Maple Lane, Pulaski, two years’ probation for misdemeanor retail theft for stealing $156 worth of cologne and other miscellaneous items Sept. 10, 2007, from Kmart, 2235 E. State St., Hermitage.

Thomas Murphy, 51, of West Market Street, Mercer, sentenced to four months to one year in the Mercer County Jail and ordered to make restitution for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. On Aug. 13, 2007, he choked another man, threw him to the ground, punched him in the face and told him he was going to kill him at a Lakewood Drive, Hermitage, residence.

Michelle Wilder, 22, of Mesabi Street, Sharon, sentenced to two weeks to one year in the Mercer County Jail for misdemeanor retail theft. While employed by Sears, 3245 E. State St., Hermitage, she rang up merchandise at less than its value, depriving the store of $408 between January and May 2007.

Cole Zahuranec, 20, of Charleston Road, Mercer, placed on six years’ probation for firearms not to be carried without a license, a misdemeanor. He was apprehended with a .22-caliber pistol in a vehicle on Skyline and East Cornell Road, Coolspring Township, on Aug. 24, 2007.
