YOUNGSTOWN — The MammoVan, a mobile mammography unit, will offer breast cancer screenings on Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave. Financial assistance for the screening and free transportation to appointments for mammograms, breast cancer diagnostic testing, treatment, and follow-up care at local health care providers may be available for women who qualify. Garden club gives assist
BOARDMAN — The Youngstown Men’s Garden Club is offering its expertise in gardening on the grounds of the former Beeghly Medical Park, the future home of Akron Children’s Hospital. Club members have constructed 12 4 feet by 4 feet raised beds to be planted and tended by area youth aged 12-16, over the course of a year. The club will do an initial planting with some of the children who will be tending the gardens on Tuesday.
LifeLines relocates
WARREN — The Trumbull LifeLines Access Center, operated by Coleman Behavioral Health Trumbull, has moved to 522 N. Park Ave. Coleman provides crisis intervention, evaluation and prescreening services, case management, employment, transitional youth services and housing assistance. Trumbull LifeLines, the county’s Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Services Board, is its major source of funds.
Arthritis lecture
SALEM — The Arthritis Foundation and the Salem Community Center are offering a free lecture on arthritis of the foot and ankle at 1 p.m. Aug. 7 in the Community Center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Road. Dr. Lawrence A. DiDomenico, an adjunct professor at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, and in private practice in Youngstown, is the presenter. To make a reservation, call (330) 332-5885. Hospice volunteers
ALLIANCE — The Alliance Visiting Nurse Association (AVNA)/ Hospice is offering Hospice Volunteer Training Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the AVNA/Hospice office at 885 Sawburg Road, Suite 106. Graduates of the program will be able to provide skilled assistance and support to Hospice patients who are terminally-ill and need end-of-life care, as well as offering support to their families. Family services grant
YOUNGSTOWN — Family Service Agency, a nonprofit mental health care agency, received a $5,000 grand from the John D. Finnegan Foundation, which will be used to repair the agency’s roof.
Anniversary open house

Pet partner training
HUBBARD — K-9’s for Compassion is offering a team training course on Aug. 23 and 24. The class is mandatory to become a Delta Society Pet Partner and join K-9’s for Compassion, whose members take their pets into nursing homes and hospitals to visit patients. K-9’s for Compassion accepts any breed of dog or any animal with the exception of reptiles and wild and exotic animals. The deadline for registration is Aug. 8. Call (330) 534-2001.
Boxers at health center
CALCUTTA — Youngstown boxers Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, former World Boxing Association lightweight champion, and Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik, reigning world middle weight champion, will be on hand at the grand re-opening open house at Calcutta Health Care Center, 48444 Bell School Road, from noon to 7 p.m. on Aug. 13. Mancini and Kelly will be available to sign autographs, said Greg Roof, administrator.
