Residents face charges; dog removed

STAFF REPORT

YOUNGSTOWN — A German shepherd with an injured leg, who had no water and a few Doritos in a dirty food bowl, was removed from a residence in the 3000 block of Vestal Road by Animal Charity humane agents Friday.

The dog was taken to a veterinarian.

Police responded to a call about 12:40 p.m. reporting that the residents at the house had no utilities and were living in squalor. Police called Animal Charity after finding the dog and observing “high grass” and “filth” in the house.

Michelle A. Losasso, 44, was cited for cruelty to animals and discontinuance of service or utilities. Rodney C. Sears, 47, was cited with discontinuance of service or utilities.

The Youngstown Water Department had turned off water service March 26. They were given 72 hours to vacate the house.

Losasso and Sears’ court date is at 10 a.m. Monday.
