BOARDMAN — The Ditchfield Family Singers will perform at 7 p.m. July 26 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive. The group sings a mixture of gospel, Broadway, inspirational and patriotic music. Stephen Ditchfield has been entertaining for 30 years. The group also features the quartet My Three Sons. The concert is free, but an offering will be taken.

Deacon ordination

CAMPBELL — Subdeacon Gregory Thompson will be ordained during a service at 10 a.m. today at St. John the Baptist Church, 305 Struthers-Liberty Road. Archbishop Job, a diocesan bishop of the Orthodox Church in America’s Diocese of the Midwest whose territory includes Ohio, will officiate at the Divine Liturgy.

Fellowship convention

The 33rd Flame Fellowship International Convention will be July 31 through Aug. 2 at the Holiday Inn Charleston House in Charleston, W.Va., with the theme, “Increasing The Kingdom.” Gerri Vincent, president of Greater Youngstown Chapter, will be among speakers including minister Joni Cline, Phyllis Bond, Pastor Mike Guarnieri and evangelist Gary Pollard. Free movie to be shown

WARREN — A free movie, “Facing the Giants,” will be shown at 9 p.m. Friday at Warren Amphitheater by the Trumbull County Crusade For Christ. Free popcorn and soft drinks will be provided. The crusade is an interdenominational ministry.

Meditation series event

VILLA MARIA, Pa. — Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will offer its ninth program in its ongoing 2008 Global Mediation Series with the Deeksha Oneness Blessing workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 2 at the community center.

This meditation workshop focuses on increasing an understanding and awareness of our connection with the divine. Workshop leader will be Nicholas Vukmanic, who received his training and certification as a Oneness Blessing Facilitator from the Oneness University in South India. The Oneness University was founded by Sri Amma Bhagavan.

Guest speaker at service

EAST PALESTINE — The Rev. Mark McTrustry, pastor at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, will be guest speaker at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday at First United Presbyterian Church, 109 W. Rebecca St. Rev. Mr. McTrustry, originally from Northern Ireland, has lived in Ohio for nine years. He is a student at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Mr. McTrustry and his wife, Beth, have three children and live in Salem.

YOUNGSTOWN — The Power of Praise, a contemporary Christian band whose members are part of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown, will present a benefit concert from 2 to 5 p.m. July 26 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmount Drive. The event is free but an offering will be taken. It will benefit the youth program.
