Scrappers rally to topple Spinners

Ryan Blair and Robert Alcombrack each had two hits for Mahoning Valley.

LOWELL, Mass. — The Mahoning Valley Scrappers scored two runs in the seventh to rally past the Lowell Spinners 5-3 in a New York-Penn League game on Thursday.

Ryan Blair and Robert Alcombrack each had two hits for the Scrappers (14-15), who added an insurance run in the ninth.

Isaias Velasquez scored twice, Walter Diaz and Lonnie Chisenhall each added two RBIs and Diaz also doubled and scored a run.

Michael McGuire (2-2) tossed two scoreless innings, striking out two and walking one without giving up a hit to get the victory.

Daniel Morales pitched a perfect ninth with two strikeouts to get his second save of the season.

Stolmy Pimentel (2-2) gave up two unearned runs in four innings of relief to get the loss for the Spinners (12-17), who held a 3-2 lead entering the seventh.
