Rhoades is new Struthers treasurer

STRUTHERS — Matthew Rhoads is the new city treasurer.

Rhoads was elected at a meeting of city Democrat Precinct committeemen during a “brief, friendly” meeting that began at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, said Lisa Antonini, Mahoning County treasurer and chairwoman of the Mahoning Democrat Party.

Rhoads, one of three candidates for the position, received six votes. The other candidates, Mark A. Sandine, and William Minchin, received four votes each, Antonini said.

The position became vacant when former treasurer Constance Shaffer resigned, effective July 1.
