YSU athletics ‘hall’ enshrinement set for Oct. 25

YOUNGSTOWN — Six women will be among a group of eight inducted into the Youngstown State Athletics Hall of Fame class in October.

The group will be enshrined Oct. 25, prior to the homecoming game against Northern Iowa.

Among the inductees will be women’s basketball players Shannon Beach, Colleen Cook, Ann Marie Martin and Caroline McCombs. All four were seniors on the 1998 squad that defeated Memphis in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Kim Givens (softball), Amy Hermann (volleyball), Walt Brian (men’s basketball) and Jeff Stofko (baseball) were also selected.

The group will also be honored at a brunch in the Kilcawley Center prior to the game.
