YSU and classified employees reach agreement on new pact

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University and its Association of Classified Employees union have reached tentative agreement on a new three-year contact.

The two sides had been heading for fact finding as a way to resolve their contract differences, but they were able to work out the details of a new pact without making use of a neutral fact finder, who would have heard both sides of the issue and come up with a recommendation for settlement.

A federal mediator did sit in on talks which resulted in the tentative agreement today.

The settlement comes about a month before the expiration of the old three-year contract.
