YOUNGSTOWN COUNCIL Other action
City council approved the following at its Wednesday meeting:
Authorized the city board of control to sign a contract with Community Corrections Association Inc. to electronically monitor up to 50 of its indigent misdemeanor prisoners who’d serve time on house arrest. The contract would cost the city $3,500 a month with the deal expected to last for three to four months and begin Aug. 1. This is expected to save the city money because it’s had all of its prisoners housed at the Mahoning County jail. After housing the first 71 city prisoners, the county charges $80 a day per prisoner at the jail.
Gave the board of control the authority to give a $1 million no-interest loan to GLI Pool Products to expand its operations.
Permitted the board of control to give Pull-A-Part, a used auto-parts store, a 75-percent, 10-year, real property tax abatement.
