Vehicle engines stolen
CANFIELD — About eight vehicle engines were stolen from the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center sometime between 4 p.m. Monday and 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Canfield police report.
The engines were designated for scrap metal and piled in an area behind the agricultural area, which is fenced in, but has an open gate. With the price of scrap metal rising, someone probably saw an easy opportunity to make money, said John Zehentbauer, center director.
Man burned in blaze
NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A man was severely burned in a house fire Wednesday in Union Township, said township Fire Chief Steve Stasko. The 23-year-old was burned over 80 percent of his body in the 1:15 a.m. fire, which heavily damaged the living room and kitchen of the small, single-story house, Stasko said.
The man was able to make it out of the house on his own, said state police fire marshal Jan Wilson.
Stasko said he isn’t positive of the house’s address, but the structure was at Smithfield and Division streets. The man was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Wilson said she is still investigating. She would not release the victim’s name.
Second fire victim dies
BRISTOL — The father of a woman who died in a Bristolville Township fire has also died. William Seeman, 77, died shortly after midnight Wednesday, according to family.
He was taken to the Akron Burn Center on Tuesday after being rescued by firefighters at Pizza Express on 1832 Greenville Road, where his daughter, Sherry Seeman, 44, died. The fire is being probed by the Trumbull County Fire Investigation Unit.
Man charged on fake bill
HERMITAGE, Pa. — A Youngstown man is charged with trying to pass a counterfeit $100 bill. Jabrae Perry, 31, of Jacobs Road was arrested at 5:37 p.m. Tuesday after he tried to buy merchandise at an Auto Zone with the fake bill, police said.
A clerk checked the bill, found it was counterfeit, and Perry took it and left. Southwest Regional Police found him at the Family Dollar Store in Farrell, and found three fake $100 bills in his possession.
Perry is charged with forgery, criminal attempt and criminal conspiracy. He was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge James McMahon and is in the Mercer County jail.
Senior health fair set
HERMITAGE, Pa. — A senior and health education fair is set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Shenango Valley Mall.
The fair, hosted by state Rep. Mark Longietti of Mercer, D-7th, will feature free health screenings and door prizes, along with information on state programs that assist senior citizens.
Judge’s office to close
GROVE CITY, Pa. — The office of District Judge Lawrence T. Silvis will be closed Friday as it moves to a new location. The office is moving from Barkeyville-Grove City Road to a new building about a half-mile east of the Pa. Route 208-Pa. Route 173 intersection. The new address will be 574 Barkeyville Road, Grove City, Pa. 16127.

Bazetta road work set
BAZETTA — Morrow and Williams drives will be resurfaced today and Friday, the township announced Wednesday. Residents may experience some delays and interruptions because of the resurfacing.
