New Castle Playhouse to do musical ‘South Pacific’

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The musical “South Pacific” will open Friday at New Castle Playhouse, 202 E. Long Ave., and run for three weekends. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sunday. Opening night will feature a complimentary wine and cheese party for all ticket holders at 6 p.m. in the Annex Theatre, with the NCP Mini Stars performing a show entitled “Rock the Jukebox” with music from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.

Michael Cavalier will direct the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic. A revival of “South Pacific” won eight Tony Awards earlier this year.
