Be wary of politicians who are too good to be true
Be wary of politicians who are too good to be true
EDITOR:
Being that I’m forced to watch Obama’s political promises every three minutes on television, I’ve come to understand that Obama has targeted the welfare system for change.
All right, changes are needed. I’m curious, when Obama cut the welfare caseload, did the state he accomplished that feat in experience a sharp and sudden rise in homelessness and crime? What happened to the welfare recipients and their families? Did they begin work programs that kept them in food, clothing and shelter or not?
All politicians attack the welfare and Social Security systems but, voters never see any politician cut back or stop the billions of tax dollars wasted by foolish government spending every day. While taxpayers struggle to fill their gas tanks, politicians squander millions of dollars to get elected.
Those who are Christians believed George Bush was answer to prayer. We soon found out he had his own agenda and it had nothing to do with benefiting the American people.
Watch this guy, Obama. He seems too good to be true and that’s usually the case. While everyone was bally-hooing over Bill Clinton, all I could think, “he’s too good to be true.” We’ve recovered but he really embarrassed this country as a nation.
Welfare and Social Security are constantly blamed for taxpayers’ woes, when it’s excess and ridiculous spending that’s the culprit.
Poor people and disabled people need financial help. Does anyone really believe a person who doesn’t need it would stay on a system that guarantees failure; that’s constructed to be a scapegoat for excessive spending?
I can’t believe in any politician. They are so removed from the common people they’ll never understand what they cause when they cut our humane funding.

Church found an honest man
EDITOR:
I am the pastor of Baptist Gospel Tabernacle on Homestead Road in Youngstown.
I am 87 years old, a retired steel mill worker and a WWII veteran.
Our church has been around for a long time. I helped build our church back in 1958. We were a large congregation at one time, however, with many moving away when the steel mills closed and some just giving up, our congregation has dissipated over the years to what we like to call “the chosen few” or the “elect”.
Although we are small in number, God still provides and keeps our doors open to all who are willing to serve him. Our church has always been about getting the message out. This is our whole purpose. God placed us here to spread the great word of salvation and to open the eyes of those who are blinded to the truth.
I am writing this letter to graciously thank the person who found our bank deposit bag on July 7 and turned it into the bank.
It is rare these days, that there are such honest people who would do the right thing. Our world has become so corrupt with such violent acts of stealing, hatred, lying, etc. It is a true blessing to know that there are still such good wholesome people out there.
Our deposit bag had over $200 in it and the person who found it could have just taken the money, but he didn’t. He walked into a National City Bank and told them he found the bag in the parking lot. Whoever this person was, I sincerely pray that God will shower you with a tremendous blessing, whether it be physically, financially, spiritually, mentally, or emotionally.
