Area native Leanne Binder releases her third CD

Canfield native Leanne Binder has released “Done Lookin’ Back,” her third CD.

Ranging from traditional to Southern rock to country, the CD features nine songs written by Binder plus two cover songs, including Cheap Trick’s “The Flame.”

A CD release party will be Saturday at Fireball Truck Night, at the corner of Colla-Price Road and Route 82 in Brookfield. Binder will perform throughout the event, which begins at 6 p.m., and will sign copies of “Done Lookin’ Back.”

Binder recruited a distinguished group of musicians to help her with the album, including Jerry Brightman of Buck Owens and the Buckaroos, pedal steel; Matt Muckle, formerly of Sin-o-Matic, drums; Randy Harper, formerly with Ricky Skaggs, keyboards; and session guitarist and musical director Dave Baker.

Lawsuit threat forces band to change name

The Total Package Band is now known as Youngstown’s Total Package Band, after another group with the same name, based in Atlanta, threatened a lawsuit.

“They gave us 30 days to change it,” said Greg Johnson. “They had the name patented. We’ve already patented the new name, so we’re in the clear.”

The popular dance band will play Friday and Saturday at JW’s Other Club at the Radisson Hotel in West Middlesex, Pa. (exit 4B off Interstate 80).

Reception for artists

WARREN — A reception will be at 6 p.m. Saturday for rt company, whose work is on display at Trumbull Art Gallery, 198 E. Market St.

A group of local female artists formed 25 years ago, rt artists consists of Ellen Dieter, Marie Dippolito, Beth Ensign, Elaine Green, Judy Griffiths, Dianne Martin, Ellie Steines, Alice Tomko, Gail Trunick, Judy Waid and Shirley Wolanzyk.

Classic cars, free movie

POLAND — Owners of classic cars are invited to Yellow Creek Theatre on Friday to display their vehicles. Cars may begin parking at 5:45 p.m. at the Poland Library.

Live entertainment will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a screening of the Michael J. Fox movie “Back to the Future.”

Movies are shown on the Route 224 bridge wall adjacent to the library. Admission is free and parking is available at the library and across the street at Town Hall.
