STRUTHERS — J A Baseball scored four times in the bottom of the fourth inning to retake the lead and went on to hand Rondinelli its first loss of the 46th Connie Mack state baseball tournament, 9-4, Monday night at Cene Park.

Garrett Mayers, Omar Santiago and Joe Heran had two hits each for J A while Joe Bowers tossed the first six innings for the win.

Ben Bechtol had a pair of hits, including a two-run triple, for Rondinelli.

The tournament is scheduled to resume today with several games at 12:30 p.m.

Dave Sugar Excavating 8, Ohio Thunder 0

Dave Sugar remained alive as Joey Borrelli had three hits.

Pat O’Brien and Scott Hanicak added two each in support of the seven strikeout, four-hit shutout performance of Justin Shaffer.

Shaffer also had two RBIs.

PB Baseball 14, Astro Falcons 5

PB Baseball pounded out 17 hits to eliminate Astro.

Jordan Lurie had five hits and scored four runs while Trevor Smith added three hits and Alex Gnezda a pair of doubles and four RBIs.

Dave Schafer had two hits and T.J. Rosenberg added a pinch hit two-run double for Astro.

Rondinelli 9, PB Baseball 7

Drew Fitzpatrick had four hits and scored four runs while Phil Double added three hits and drove home three for Rondinelli.

Cory Nesbitt added two hits and also got the last out of the game on the mound for a save.

Robert Switka went 52‚Ñ3 innings in relief for the win.

Alex Gnezda had two triples and a single while Trevor Smith had three hits for PB Baseball.

J&A Baseball 11, Astro Falcons 4

J A Baseball broke open a 1-1 tie with a six-run fifth inning.

Doug Holmes had four hits while Garrett Mayers, Andrew Gacom and Jason Kolar added two each for J A.

Elvin Williams pitched the first six innings for the win with six strikeouts.

Trent Vallinger and Mark Lapikas had two hits each for the Astros while Steve Gruver had seven strikeouts in 41‚Ñ3 innings.

Thunder Select 13, Livi Steel 5

Cory Gravesmill and Andrew Powelson had three hits each with Powelson driving home three runs as Thunder Select eliminated Livi Steel.

Kyle Mann added a pair of hits while Andrew Zenczak had two hits for Thunder Select.

Bobby Herberger had three hits, Jae Leeworthy two singles and Dan Perkins a home run for Livi Steel.

Heights Hawks 13, Simon Roofing 3

Lee Longo had a double and a home run as the Heights Hawks scored 10 times in the fifth to eliminate Simon Roofing.

Longo also drove home four while Jim Piasciki had three hits. Brian Lawless and Dave Medue had two each for the Hawks.

Brett Cooper had a double for Simon Roofing.

Dave Sugar Excavating 3, Ohio Orioles 2

Todd Kibby tossed a four-hit complete game with six strikeouts for Dave Sugar.

Joe Borrelli had a double and two singles to lead the Sugar attack. Paul Sansonette had a double for the Orioles.

Troy American Legion 22, Simon Roofing 11

Troy American Legion won a slugfest Sunday night.

Zack Dumler had four hits with Tyler Stephenson adding a triple and pair of doubles, and Erik Lamka three singles for Troy.

Ross Revella had three hits while Cory Johnson and Joe Sekula had two each for Simon Roofing.
