LITTLE LEAGUE (11-12)

Poland 8, Wheelersburg 1 — Poland advanced to the winner’s bracket final of the state tournament at Kenton. Jessica Rutana scattered six hits, struck out nine and walked one to earn the win. She also had three hits and scored four runs. Taylor Miokovic hit three doubles and drove in four runs. Anna Barnhart also had three hits while Phoebe Bush had two. Tuesday, Poland plays Tallmadge, with the winner advancing to the state title game.

BABE RUTH (14-15s)

Rondinelli 5, Joe Koch/Line Drive 3

Joe Koch/Line Drive 4, Rondinelli 3 — Koch scored three runs in the sixth inning to tie the game, and one in the eighth for the win in Game 2 of the championship series. Adam Robb tripled in two runs and Carter Hill singled in Robb to tie it. Tyler Walls singled to start the eighth, was bunted to second and scored on Dan Popio’s single. Walls had three hits and scored two runs for Joe Koch. Dane Gecina had two hits, including a double for Rondinelli. Jeff Revesz also doubled in two runs.

Joe Koch/Line Drive 8, Rondinelli 7 — In another eight inning game, Koch (27-2) won the championship two games to one. Carmen Tarantino singled in Mark Leone with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to secure the win. Tarantino had three hits, two runs scored, while Adam Robb and Mark Calautti had two hits and two RBIs each. Tyler Walls hit an RBI double in the sixth. Rondinelli’s Alex Miklos had two hits, including a triple, and scored two runs. Ryan Halicki added two hits, including a double.
