50th anniversary celebration for the Pompeos


X POLAND — A party honoring Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pompeo, 6627 Katahdin Drive, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary took place June 21 at the Pacentrani Club in Youngstown.

Invitations for the event were issued by their family, Gina and Donald Kossick of Troy, Mich.; Julie and Neil Bell of Winter Spring, Fla.; Albert and Darlene Pompeo of Poland; and Joseph and Lisa Pompeo of Austintown. Rounding out the family circle are nine grandchildren.

St. Nicholas Church in Struthers was the setting June 14, 1958, as the former Anna Vaccariello and Mr. Pompeo were united in marriage. They are members of Holy Family Church, where she has been a CCD teacher for 26 years and where he serves as an usher.

Prior to retiring in 2000, Mrs. Pompeo was a tailor at Moyers for four years, the Garment Center for 21 years and Richmond Bros. for five years. She belongs to the Auxiliary of the Pacentrani Club and is a member of St. Anthony Society.

Mr. Pompeo was employed for two years by General Fireproofing and for 28 years by LTV Steel Corp. prior to retiring in 1986. He is an umpire for Youngstown Metro and is a member of the Pacentrani Club, St. Anthony Society, Youngstown Morra Club, the VFW Golf League and St. Anthony and Pacentrani boccie leagues.
