Rondinelli wins title in Little b
Rondinelli scored two runs in the top of the seventh to gain the 7-5 victory.
STRUTHERS — Rondinelli Tuxedo scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning as it posted a 7-5 victory over Astro Falcons to win the Class Little b championship series (3-1) Thursday at Cene Park.
Both runs scored in the seventh were unearned as Astro had four errors in the game that led to five unearned runs for Rondinelli.
Astro had battled back from a five-run deficit to tie the game in the sixth inning.
Rondinelli used a bases-loaded double by Anthony Raschilla to key a five-run third inning, and doubles by John Beatty and Dylan DeJane helped Astro score three times in the fourth and a triple by Mike Natale led off the two-run rally in the sixth.
Boo Vasquez collected four hits and picked up the win in relief, getting the final two outs in the sixth inning.
Raschilla, who drove in three runs, pitched a perfect seventh inning for the save with two strikeouts.
Shane Parks and AJ Zorella each had two hits each for Rondinelli. Natale, DeJane, and Joe Fontana had two hits each for Astro, while Mark Warchol went the distance in defeat, allowing only two earned runs with five strikeouts.
Warren AA League
WARREN — Torrie Frangiamore hit a home run in the seventh inning and Josh Geric hit a double and two singles and drove in two runs for the Mahoning Valley Knights in a 5-3 win over Flex Strut.
The Knights lead the Caffie Division with a 15-2 record.
John Thompson and Rick DiMuzio added two hits apiece. Ryan Walters hit a pair of singles for Flex Strut (11-7).
P.I. I Express 7, Elite Shockers 2
WARREN — Express (5-14), leading 2-1, put the game away as it scored five runs on three walks and four base hits in the top of the seventh inning.
Mike Witherow hit a pair of singles and Brian McClung a double. Brett Grabman hit two singles for the Shockers (14-7).
