Attempted-rape sentence

Attempted-rape sentence

YOUNGSTOWN — A 22-year-old North Jackson man is going to prison for four years on attempted rape and abduction charges to which he pleaded guilty.

Anthony R. Scott, of South Duck Creek Road, drew the sentence Thursday from Judge Timothy E. Franken of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, who imposed two concurrent four-year prison terms.

Scott initially was charged with rape and kidnapping in the April 4, 2007, incident, in which an Austintown woman said she was assaulted in a Westchester Drive apartment. When the assault was reported to a 911 dispatcher, police searched for Scott for 90 minutes before he led them on a foot chase, which ended when he was stunned with a Taser and captured near an Austintown grocery store. Before the chase, Scott called police to surrender, police said.
