R&J Trucking wins twice Astro, Rondinelli split two


STRUTHERS — R&J Trucking scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and went on to post a five-inning 11-1 victory over Astro Falcons in a Class B League best-of-five championship series contest Wednesday at Cene Park.

Joe Wielbruda hit a single and double, and drove in four runs for R&J Trucking, which took a 2-0 lead in the series. Evan Campbell hit three singles and drove in two runs.

Jared Barker, who had saved game one, pitched five innings, allowed five hits and struck out three to pick up the win.

R&J sent 13 batters to the plate in the fourth inning to put the game away. Mark Lapikas had a single and a double while Trent Vallinger had two hits for Astro.

Games three and, if necessary, four of the series are scheduled today starting at 6 p.m. on Cene 1.

R&J Trucking 7, Astro Falcons 2

STRUTHERS — In game one, R&J Trucking got out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the sixth and then scored three runs in the top of the seventh.

Joe Wielbruda, Dan Kabala and Brad Byers had two hits each, with Byers driving home two runs.

Nick Baiamonte went the first five-plus innings for the win.

Barker came on with the bases loaded, one out and R&J ahead 4-2. Barker induced a double-play grounder to end the threat. Mark Lapikas had two hits for the Falcons.

Little b

STRUTHERS — Astro Falcons rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Rondinelli Tuxedo 3-2 and even up their Little b best of five championship series (1-1) at Cene Park 2.

A bases-loaded walk to Dylan DeJane scored the game winning run. DeJane had two runs batted in while John Beatty had two hits. Nick Lesky tossed two 2/3 innings of one hit scoreless relief for the win.

Joe Aulizia had two hits for Rondinelli while Bo Slemons went the first six innings allowing only one earned run with five strikeouts.

Games three and four will be played today on Cene 2 starting at 6 p.m.

Astro Falcons 4

STRUTRHERS — In the opening game of the series, Rondinelli Tuxedo built a 5-0 lead and held off the Astro Falcons for a win.

Joe Fontana and Chris Kirkwood had two hits each for Rondinelli while Mark Warchol drove home three runs.

Matt Shelton tossed the first five innings of shutout, two-hit ball to pick up the win.

Shane Parks drove home a pair of runs for the Falcons.
