July 2

Criminal damaging: A worker with a doctor’s office in the 1000 block of Boardman-Canfield Road found damage to two outer window panes and a satellite wire.

Menacing: A Southern Boulevard man reported being threatened during an argument about the remainder of a payment he was to have made for a boat.

Damage: A man in the 100 block of Rockland Drive saw that a portion of his vinyl siding had been struck by a firework.

Theft: A school official reported the theft of a $1,575 saxophone from Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave.

Theft: A man’s wallet was stolen as he shopped at a Boardman-Canfield Road store.

Fraud: An elderly Boardman woman’s nephew told police she needed home repairs but lost about $16,000 for work that was never completed.

Arrest: A 28-year-old Melrose Avenue man was taken into custody at his home on a warrant from Bazetta Township charging him with theft.

Assault: A Carter Circle woman had redness to the neck after reporting she had been pushed against a wall and choked.

Auto theft: An employee with The Honda Store, 448 Boardman-Canfield Road, told police someone took a 2005 Honda Accord for a test drive but failed to return the car.

Assault: A Youngstown woman alleged her boyfriend pulled her hair and punched her repeatedly in the face and head as she drove to his Indianola Road residence. She sought medical treatment.

Counterfeit: A worker with a Shell True North gas station, 998 E. Western Reserve Road, used a detector pen that revealed two phony $20 bills.

Bad check: A worker for Hobby Lobby Creative Center, 472 Boardman-Canfield Road, accepted a $199.53 check later determined to be bad.

Theft: A Boardman woman, 55, faced a felony charge after an undisclosed amount of money was missing from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.

Robbery: A police canine was brought in after a Boardman woman reported her purse was forcibly stolen from her at a Boardman-Canfield Road business. A Youngstown man, 25, faced charges of robbery, tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property; a 25-year-old Boardman man was charged with complicity to robbery, tampering with evidence, receiving stolen property, theft and obstructing official business.

July 3

Criminal damaging: A door was damaged at a Windsor Road residence.

Theft: A woman took an unknown amount of merchandise from Family Dollar, 4028 Market St.

Theft: A worker with Once Upon a Child, 7334 Market St., discovered receipts had been created to make it appear money was being paid.

Theft: An employee for Paul’s Tire Smoke Shop, 4852 Southern Blvd., reported four tires and rims were among items stolen.

Theft: A Rockland Avenue man reported a $550 firearm missing from his home.

Theft/criminal damaging: A Boardman man reported an MP3 player, wallet and driver’s license stolen, and that his mother’s vehicle was damaged after having been broken into.

Felonious assault: A Stuart Avenue man alleged his wife struck him in the mouth with a hammer, burned him with a curling iron and threw a pot of boiling water on him as part of an ongoing pattern of abuse. A relative of the victim discovered burns, scabs and cuts on the man, the report showed.

July 4

Citation: Officers cited a 40-year-old Youngstown man on a disorderly-conduct charge after responding to a report of an intoxicated person near Schenley Avenue. The man walked in the road, causing a danger to himself, the report said.

Theft: A 32-year-old woman was picked up on Thalia Drive on a warrant charging her with failure to appear in court on a theft count.

Robbery: A South Avenue man told police two men punched him in the head before stealing $200 from him. The victim suffered a cut lip and had a missing tooth.

Criminal damaging: A Parkland Drive woman reported damage to her vehicle’s windshield and passenger-side body panels.

Theft: A man reported $60 stolen while at a Doral Drive business.

July 5

Theft: A New Castle, Pa., woman’s purse was stolen at a Tiffany Boulevard restaurant.

Drugs: A 48-year-old Boardman man was taken into custody during a traffic stop near U.S. Route 224 on a felony charge of possession of drugs. Seven Percocet pills were found in his pocket, police said.

Arrest: A Boardman man, 40, was arrested after being pulled over near Market Street when officers learned he was wanted on a warrant charging him with carrying a concealed weapon.

July 6

Theft: A Jeannette Drive man reported the theft of a patio umbrella and its stand.

Arrest: A 51-year-old Boardman man was arrested in the 200 block of Shields Road on a probation-violation charge. He also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia when, police said, a suspected marijuana pipe was found.

Burglary: A Nevada Avenue man discovered someone entered his home via a side window before taking a personal photograph.

Theft: A man’s wallet was taken at a Boardman-Poland Road store.

Theft: A North Jackson woman reported her purse and three credit cards stolen while at a Shields Road residence.

Criminal mischief: A Silver Fox Drive woman reported someone deliberately set off a firework at the end of her driveway.

Theft: Three cell phones totaling $1,100 were stolen from T Mobile, 457 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft by deception: Authorities charged a 32-year-old Braddock, Pa., man with two counts of theft by deception after employees with Hungry Howie’s Pizza and Family Video, both at 5205 Market St., reported having been shortchanged.

Criminal mischief: A window was smashed at a residence in the 8400 block of Crystal Drive.
