Tanner, Zetts named
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. SEmD Former YSU football players Josh Tanner and Tom Zetts were named National Strength and Conditioning Association All-Americans.
YSU has now had 40 student-athletes receive NSCA All-America honors.
In 2007, Zetts was a second-team All-Gateway pick and a three-team Academic All-Conference honoree.
In his senior season, Zetts completed 173-of-277 passes for 1,845 yards and seven touchdowns. His 62.5 percent completion percentage set a school record.
Tanner started 32 games as a member of the offensive line during his career, including the final 24. In 2007, he was a second-team All-Gateway selection starting all 11 games at right guard.

Baseball program
STRUTHERS — The Youngstown Class B League is putting together a games program for the Continental Amateur Baseball Association World Series which will be held at Cene Park from July 27 to Aug. 3, and is seeking sponsors for advertisements.

Teams will be coming from all over the country to join area teams Rondinelli Tuxedo and Astro Falcons in the meet. The two area teams qualified by winning their divisions in the Youngstown Class B League regular season.
Some 20-30 teams are expected to be in town for the tournament.
The deadline for submitting advertisements will be July 21.
Inner-city flag playoffs Saturday
YOUNGSTOWN — The springtime inner-city flag football league sponsored by the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center, Life of Living Waters Sports Foundation and Heartreach Ministries will hold its playoffs and championships at Cardinal Mooney High on Saturday.
Six teams in the 7- to 10-year-old division and six in the 11-13-year-old division will compete in the single-elimination event beginning at 9 a.m.
A church service followed by a picnic/barbecue for players will take place at the Boys and Girls Club of Youngstown on July 13.

Traylor rejoins Cavs
CLEVELAND — Robert “Tractor” Traylor will rejoin the Cavaliers — for the summer at least.
Traylor was selected Tuesday to Cleveland’s 13-member summer league roster. The team is made up of young players like Cavaliers rookies J.J. Hickson and Darnell Jackson.
Traylor last played for the Cavaliers in 2005 and is one of the few veterans on the roster.
LeBron James’ high school teammates and former Akron stars Dru Joyce and Romeo Travis also are on the roster.

Knicks sign Gallinari
NEW YORK — The Knicks signed first-round draft pick Danilo Gallinari on Tuesday and expect to have him ready to play in summer league games next week in Las Vegas.
Gallinari was taken sixth overall in June, and Knicks fans at the draft jeered and booed when the big Italian’s name was called. According to the NBA’s rookie scale, Gallinari is set to average about $2.6 million in salary over the first three years of his career.
The 6-foot-8 Gallinari, who turns 20 before the season starts, is a versatile offensive player who led his team, Armani Jeans of Milan, with 17.5 points per game.
