Woman killed in one-car crash

WARREN — A 19-year-old woman is dead and her 20-year-old passenger seriously injured after both women were ejected from their car on Pine Street near the entrance to Warren Consolidated Industries early Wednesday.

Jaleesa P. Davis of Deerfield Street, the driver, was dead at the scene. Her passenger, Kashea Nelson of Draper Avenue Southeast, was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. She was still being treated in the emergency room at 11 a.m.

Warren police said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Pine when the four-door car struck a curb on the right side of the road, causing it to roll over and strike a utility pole, which cut the vehicle into two parts. The car was divided at the firewall just in front of the passenger compartment.

Apparently neither woman was wearing a seat belt during the 2:12 a.m. accident, said Sgt. Larry Salvato, the department’s traffic commissioner.
